                              ORDINANCE NO.   9936 
        
        
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 6958, AS
                   AMENDED, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE, SO AS
                   TO ADD A DEFINITION FOR "AUTO WRECKING YARD."
                  
                            __________________________
        
              	   WHEREAS, the Chattanooga Zoning Ordinance contains a
         definition for "Junkyard" which includes auto wrecking yards,
         but does not define auto wrecking yards; and
              	   WHEREAS, for purposes of determining violations and
         enforcement of the zoning ordinance there needs to be a
         definition for "Auto Wrecking Yard;" and
              	   WHEREAS, the definition for "Auto Wrecking Yard" found 

         in the Hamilton County Zoning Regulations has in the past been
         used as a reference,
                                 NOW, THEREFORE,
              	   BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
         CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Ordinance No. 6958, as amended, 
the
         Zoning Ordinance, be and the same is hereby amended as follows:
              	   SECTION 1.	  That Article II, Definitions, be
         amended by adding a new section:
                   (6.1)  Auto Wrecking Yard:  Any place where
                          three (3) or more vehicles not in
                          running condition, or the parts
                          thereof, are stored in the open, or any
                          building or structure used primarily
                          for the wrecking or storage of such
                          automobiles.

         	   SECTION 2.	  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this
         Ordinance shall take effect two weeks from and after its 
passage
         as provided by law.
